Our customer, a boutique defence and security consultancy, are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their team. The role is based full time in Milton Keynes with travel to Cheltenham, or can be hybrid with some homeworking and travel. The role offers a rate of up to £625/day.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. Our client has indicated that they intend to operate the engagement as Inside IR35. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement. The rates above represent rate payable to the umbrella co.

The Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing robust solutions that streamline development processes and enhance operational efficiency. Collaborating with a team of skilled professionals, you will contribute to the delivery of projects that drive digital transformation and ensure seamless deployment pipelines.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end DevOps solutions, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and deploy containerised applications on Kubernetes platforms.
• Implement monitoring and logging solutions.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC).
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of DevOps practices into the software development life cycle.
• Continuously evaluate and improve existing processes to enhance scalability, reliability, and security of deployment pipelines.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Proficiency in administering Linux and Windows Operating Systems within large corporate environments.
• Hands-on experience with IAC techniques using Ansible, Terraform, and PackerIO.
• Strong Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation tasks.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Concourse, and GitOps principles.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Fluentbit, and Loki.
• Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or OpenShift (PaaS).
• Proficiency in collaboration tools such as Slack and version control systems like Git.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Active DV clearance is a preferred qualification for consideration.
